- Senior Development Manager
Description
The Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM) and the ELM Action Fund (ELM AF) seek a Senior Development Manager to drive engagement and stewardship of corporate and foundation partners and individual donors. The Senior Manager will report to the VP of Development and Finance and work closely staff and Board members including the President and Leadership Team members.
Responsibilities:
Partnership Building
Identify, research and drive plans to engage prospective corporate, foundation and individual partners and donors
Prepare meeting briefs for prospective partners and support ELM staff in developing new relationships
Lead the outreach process for prospective sponsors of ELM’s annual Earth Night event
Partner Engagement and Stewardship
Manage a portfolio of corporate, foundation and middle donors
Build trust, confidence, and effective collaboration with key partners through in-person meetings, events and effective communication
Create, document and track progress on stewardship plans for high priority corporate, foundation and individual partners
Draft and/or edit reports for foundation partners and individuals
Manage engagement and stewardship of ELM Corporate Council members and Earth Night sponsors
Develop and implement an engagement and stewardship program for middle donors, loyal donors and recurring donors
Donor Communications
Draft fundraising materials including email updates, donor engagement materials, proposals, reports, acknowledgement letters, and appeals
Draft or advise on talking points for events and meetings
Additional Duties
Develop robust understanding of program and policy goals
Ensure timely submission of funder proposals and reports
Assist in preparation and tracking of proposal budgets and financial reports
Advise and assist in planning and execution of events
Advise and support in setting Development and Corporate Engagement goals, objectives, and processes
Qualifications:
Required
3-5 years of Development experience
Experience in proposal and report writing and donor engagement and stewardship
Understanding of Development strategies, systems, and processes
Experience with budget and financial report preparation
Superior written and oral communications skills
Strong project management and critical thinking skills
Collaborative mindset and demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and independently
Passion for ELM’s Purpose, Mission, Vision, and Values
Commitment to centering racial justice and equity in ELM’s work and ensuring an inclusive organizational culture
Preferred
Experience in environmental, climate, and/or clean energy organizations
Experience with Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP)
Experience with 501(c)4 or political and candidate fundraising
Compensation & Benefits:
$85,000-100,000, depending on experience. ELM provides 6 weeks paid time off per year in addition to holidays and the days between Christmas and New Years, health and dental insurance, a Health Savings Account, and a 403(b) retirement plan with an organizational match.
This full-time role requires occasional morning and evening commitments outside of the standard 9-5 office hours. The position is based in Boston, MA and will require periodic travel within Massachusetts. ELM supports a hybrid work environment and expects employees to work from the downtown Boston office at least 2-3 days per week.
