Description
The Water Authority has multiple openings in the positions of Safety Manager and Safety Instructor.
The Safety Manager will provide innovative leadership to employees, supervisors and managers on all matters of Federal and State policies related to OSHA and/or DOT/CDL compliance. Plan, develop, coordinate and implement compliance programs for the Water Authority that reduce or eliminate workplace accidents, injuries and financial losses. Provide safety training to subordinate safety personnel and other employees as needed.
The Safety Instructor will plan and conduct safety instruction for Water Authority staff to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions. Implement established safety standards and programs to ensure compliance with safety and health laws.

New employees joining the Water Authority elect to participate in one of two retirement plans. The state retirement plan (PERA) is a defined benefit plan that provides retirement income up to 90% of the average of your five highest years' salary. Retirement under PERA also guarantees you access to the retiree health care plan. New employees who do not wish to join PERA are eligible to participate in a 401a Defined Contribution Plan with immediate vesting and a 19% contribution from the Water Authority. Group term life insurance coverage equal to a percentage of your annual salary is provided at no cost to every employee. Employees may elect to purchase additional life insurance at a reasonable cost. Long-term and short-term disability insurance is also available for purchase at competitive rates. Requirements
Safety Manager - Bachelor's degree with major course work in Science, Engineering, Safety Engineering or a related field, plus five (5) years of safety program management. Experience producing and implementing safety programs in the water and wastewater fields preferred.
Safety Instructor - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Safety, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety Physical Fitness, Exercise Physiology, or a related field, plus three (3) years of conducting employee safety training, or experience in the areas of employee safety, environmental health, injury reduction and/or prevention, or employee health and wellness programs, or safety standards enforcement.
Experience such as described in the job description may substitute for education on a year for year basis.
