- Pharmacist in Charge
Description
The Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) oversees pharmacy operations, ensures compliance with SOPs, state and federal regulations, and supervises pharmacists and technicians. The PIC achieves production goals, assists with investigations and daily tasks, monitors training status, and serves as the main contact for regulatory agencies. Responsibilities include oversight of sterile and non-sterile compounding, adherence to USP standards (<797>, <795>, <800>), and maintaining professional and legal compliance.
Requirements
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent. Minimum 5 years of compounding pharmacy experience; sterile compounding strongly preferred. Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in the FloridaFloridia (and additional states as required). To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - OPERATIONS
- Responsible for the execution of opening and closing activities; either directly, or through delegation to a staff pharmacist.
- Ensures the strict procedures are followed around the facility.
- Directly supervise staff pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
- Serve as designated person for compounding operations
- Ensure production goals are created, tracked, and met.
- Identify trends or issues that are delaying batch production or causing batches to be cancelled.
- Writing operational and production SOP’s.
- Assist in documentation and completion of Adverse Drug Event forms.
- Answer clinical questions from health professionals and provide product information.
- Support order verification within computer order processing queue to ensure facility and product accuracy.
- Review of all batch records and associated documentation verification.
- Ensuring safe work environments, enforcing operational discipline, and monitoring aseptic behaviors.
- Efficiently utilize tools and metrics (KPI’s) to monitor staff productivity, deliverables, timelines, and quality of work product to adjust staffing levels and operational processes as needed to ensure operational effectiveness.
- Oversee environmental monitoring, quality assurance, and corrective action plans.
- Ensure proper documentation of training, competency, and licensure.
- Performs other duties as requested by senior management

- TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Demonstrated use of intermediate computer operations (basic programming in 3 and 4 generation languages, relational databases, and operating systems) and intermediate software packages, word processing, spreadsheets, graphic, etc.
- Knowledge of email systems such as Microsoft Outlook sufficient to communicate with both internal and external contacts
