- Operations Forester
Description
We are seeking an experienced Operations Forester based in Millinocket, Maine. This role supports the implementation, and reporting of harvesting activities across our Maine timberlands.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and monitor harvesting operations
- Oversee merchandizing, utilization, and quality control of wood products
- Prepare short-term wood product forecasts
- Plan forest roads and monitor road construction and maintenance
- Coordinate transportation of wood products
- Maintain an effective workforce of service contractors
- Prepare and file required permits and notifications
- Update forest inventory records for harvested areas
- Engage with forestry stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental policies and standards
Requirements
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in forestry
- Three years or more experience in harvesting operations
- Working knowledge of Maine forestry laws and regulations
- Strong observation and communication skills
- Self-discipline to work effectively without direct supervision
- GPS & GIS systems application skills
- Professional Forester License designation is an asset
