The University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture invites applications for 12-month, Tenure-track positions with appointments of 80% research and 20% teaching. This is a unique opportunity to join a coordinated cohort of established and new faculty working to modernize and transform public breeding programs across Arkansas.
Phenomics Applied to Plant Breeding REQ. R0092091
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR | DEPARTMENT OF CROP, SOIL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES
Build a high-throughput phenotyping program using UAVs, robotics, hyperspectral imaging, and LiDAR, with AI,
machine learning, and computer vision to quantify complex traits and sharpen selection across soybean, rice, fruit,
vegetable, and wheat breeding programs.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in plant science, agricultural engineering, remote sensing, or data science.
Rice Genomics and Breeding Systems REQ. R0092094
ASSISTANT / ASSOCIATE / FULL PROFESSOR | DEPARTMENT OF CROP, SOIL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES
Hold the Anheuser-Busch and Arkansas Wholesalers Professorship in Plant Molecular Genetics. Lead genomic
discovery in rice through RNA-sequencing, pangenomics, CRISPR gene editing, and multi-omics integration, in
partnership with the University's two public rice breeding programs.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in plant molecular biology, plant breeding, genetics, or genomics.
Integration of Omics in Plant Breeding REQ. R0092451
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR | DEPARTMENT OF HORTICULTURE
Build a nationally recognized computational breeding program that integrates multi-omic data, statistical genetics,
and AI-assisted decision support. Translate genomic prediction, GWAS, and QTL mapping into breeder-friendly apps
and dashboards for specialty, row, and perennial crops.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in plant breeding, genetics, genomics, data science, or AI/ML.
Plant Pathology: Host-Pathogen Interactions REQ. R0092194
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR | DEPARTMENT OF ENTOMOLOGY AND PLANT PATHOLOGY
Develop an extramurally funded program on host-pathogen interactions using functional genomics, molecular
genetics, bioinformatics, biocontrol, or disease management, with preference for pathogens affecting Arkansas
commodities. Collaborate with research and extension faculty and teach graduate and undergraduate courses.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in plant pathology or a related field; land-grant postdoctoral experience preferred.
