Position Summary
The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall maintenance, presentation, and agronomic management of Park Hills Golf Club's golf course, practice facilities, landscaping, irrigation systems, and grounds. This position ensures exceptional playing conditions while maintaining the course in a safe, environmentally responsible, and financially efficient manner. The Superintendent leads and develops the grounds maintenance team and works closely with club leadership to support member and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities Golf Course Maintenance & Agronomy
- Develop and implement comprehensive turfgrass management programs.
- Maintain golf course greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, practice areas, and surrounding landscapes to high standards.
- Monitor turf health and implement disease, weed, insect, and pest management programs.
- Plan and execute aerification, overseeding, topdressing, fertilization, and other cultural practices.
- Evaluate course conditions daily and prioritize maintenance activities accordingly.
- Maintain course conditioning consistent with Park Hills' strategic goals and member expectations.
- Manage and maintain all irrigation systems and infrastructure.
- Monitor water usage and implement efficient irrigation practices.
- Troubleshoot and coordinate repairs of irrigation components.
- Develop water conservation initiatives and environmental stewardship practices.
- Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate grounds maintenance personnel.
- Foster a positive, safety-focused, and productive work environment.
- Conduct regular team meetings and training sessions.
- Ensure compliance with all club policies and safety procedures.
- Oversee maintenance and replacement planning for golf course equipment.
- Coordinate with equipment technicians to ensure proper operation of machinery.
- Maintain maintenance facilities, storage areas, and chemical handling procedures.
- Prepare and manage annual operating and capital budgets.
- Monitor expenditures and control costs while maintaining course quality.
- Develop long-range equipment replacement and capital improvement plans.
- Maintain inventory controls for chemicals, fertilizers, seed, fuel, and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding pesticide application, chemical storage, environmental protection, and workplace safety.
- Maintain accurate records of pesticide applications and regulatory reporting.
- Promote sustainable golf course management practices.
- Communicate course conditions, projects, and maintenance schedules with club leadership.
- Participate in management meetings and strategic planning initiatives.
- Assist with tournament preparation and special events.
- Respond professionally to member and guest inquiries regarding course conditions.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of golf course maintenance experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Golf Course Superintendent experience preferred.
- Valid pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain within required timeframe).
- Strong knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, drainage, and golf course maintenance equipment.
- Experience with budgeting, staff management, and project planning.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and golf course management software.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk, bend, kneel, and operate golf course maintenance equipment.
- Availability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as necessary.
