Description
OverviewLa Cantera Resort & Spa is seeking a driven Assistant Superintendent to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. The role supports golf course maintenance and construction operations at the resort.
Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree (AA), or equivalent from a four- or two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science.
- Three to four years related experience and/or training.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Pesticide Application License.
- Ability to read and speak English required to perform job duties and communicate with customers and co-workers.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
Essential Responsibilities
- Work with the Superintendent to ensure the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
- Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties.
- Assist in planning, organizing, and directing maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
- Supervise planting and cultural practices involved in growing turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants.
- Ensure construction equipment is properly maintained.
- Assist in procurement of supplies and materials while keeping costs within budgetary limitations.
- Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with required reports.
- Follow sound purchasing procedures using preferred vendors when possible.
- Reconcile and provide timely coding of invoices, payroll, and other required documents.
- Coordinate snow removal depending upon facility location.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and government regulations.
- Ensure associates obtain proper licenses to perform job tasks safely and address environmental concerns.
- Manage department team members including Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
- Provide orientation and training for new associates and develop ongoing training programs.
- Monitor business volume forecast and plan manpower, productivity, costs, and expenses accordingly.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
