As the Assistant Golf Professional, you will be responsible for helping to oversee the daily operations of the golf course along with the Head Golf Professional by providing excellent service to our Members and their guests. As an Assistant Golf Professional, your job duties include doing club fittings and repairs, promotes and assists with all details regarding golf tournaments, and monitor pace of play, and addresses issues as they arise and providing any other additional requirements of the golf department as needed.

Education and/or Experience
- College Degree preferred or demonstrated equivalent in education and experience.
- Requires a minimum of two years of experience in an upscale Private Golf Club.
- Requires experience in tournament golf, merchandising, managing and teaching the game of golf.
- Requires a valid driver's license.
- Maintain PGA of America membership in good standing in an active classification
- Actively pursue PGA membership (if a PGA Apprentice) in a timely manner through the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGA PGM) program
Language : Ability to read, write and speak English and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to Members, Committees, guests and other employees.
Mathematics : Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Computer : Ability to proficiently use Microsoft office suite and point of sale system.
Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other :
- Exhibits professionalism and expressed interest of improvement through enhanced developmental skills, exhibit leadership, and expressed direction through own self-actions.
- Requires knowledge of legal issues as it relates to Wage & Hour, OSHA, Department of Environmental Regulation & the Department of Environmental Protection.
- Requires managerial / supervisory background and understanding of private club operations as it pertains to legal liability and employee relations.
- Requires the individual to maintain flexible availability, will work weekends, and holidays. May be required to return to job site at odd hours under emergency situations.
- Maintain a pleasant and outgoing personality and must not possess any extreme personal appearance characteristics as judged by a conservative membership base.
- Must be respected in the Community.
- Build company image with Members, employees and vendors by enforcing ethical business practices as stated in the "Code of Ethics Policy".
- Serves as a role model and sets a positive example for the entire staff in all aspects of business and personnel management.
- Must be in compliance with and actively support a drug free workplace.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel in order to use a telephone keypad and computer keyboard and mouse. The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position at a maximum of 50% of the time. Must frequently be able to move equipment weighing up to 60lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provides strong work ethic to ensure that the golf department presents itself exceptionally well
- Promotes ongoing dialogue and rapport with club members.
- Remains visible/accessible to members and guests.
- Promotes tournaments, daily events, ensures tournament program meets standards.
- Gives quality golf instruction to members and guests; if approved by Director of Golf or Head Golf Professional
- Promotes the game of golf through demonstrations and player development programs
- Translates the rules of golf for members in an understandable way
- Observe and assist demo days and helps members find clubs that fit them
- Monitors tees, advises members where to start, attends to members needs during their rounds.
- Helps to ensure that the outside operations preform according to standards. Assists when needed.
- Assists in ensuring the golf shop operates according to standards. Assists when needed.
- Ensures that practice facilities are neat and orderly and that members and guests are attended to.
- Reports rules violations to Director of Golf, Head Golf Professional or 1 st Assistant Golf Professional
- Takes special orders request from members.
- Competes in golf tournaments.
- Plays golf with the membership and guests of all skill levels.
- Addresses and promptly resolves all Golf Shop member complaints.
- Participates and promotes training and development of golf department to ensure staff is in position to meet the high expectations of members.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Assists the Club in meeting its long- and short-term goals.
- Furthers his/her continued development by participating in appropriate seminars and conferences as approved by the Director of Golf.
