- Aquatics Manager
Description
The Aquatics Manager oversees the daily operations of Tropic Falls Aquatics areas, ensuring safe, clean, and exceptional experiences for all guests. This position leads the aquatics team, manages staffing and training, and ensures compliance with all safety, operational, and service standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Responsible leadership of Team Members, including; recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and maintaining appropriate staffing levels for the department.
2. Develop and manage the implementation of department policies and procedures, including formal Standard Operating Procedures along with accompanying training policies, materials, and documentation.
3. Conduct department orientation classes, attraction training, Lifeguard training, and in service training for Aquatics staff.
4. Clearly describe and assign responsibility and authority for the operation of the department.
5. Recruit, select, train and develop department Leads and Supervisors.
6. Ensure all certifications are current for all Lifeguards and Attendants.
7. Participate in the Manager-On-Duty (MOD) program for Tropic Falls.
8. Develop detailed, realistic, and comprehensive plans that support organizational objectives.
9. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and departmental planning.
10. Communicate effectively with both internal and external customers, using tact and diplomacy for de-escalation, gathering accurate information, and resolving conflicts that arise with the Team or Guests.
11. Perform supervisory tasks, including scheduling, training, resolving conflict, coaching and developing others, promoting teamwork, corrective actions, and managing quality control.
12. Assist in monitoring environmental conditions both inside the indoor water park structure and at the outdoor water park attractions.
13. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop large teams.
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience in a high volume, public facing, aquatics facility/water park.
- Projects a positive, professional, image to Team and Guests.
- Ability to inspire and motivate Team Members to work together and exceed expectations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Successful completion of criminal background check and drug screen
- Able to work in sunny, hot, humid, cold and rainy conditions.
- Willing and able to work odd or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong communicator with ability to motivate a team, deliver quality results, and maintain a positive attitude.
- Current, valid driver’s license.
Desired Qualifications & Traits
1. College degree
2. ILTP® Instructor
3. Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
4. E&A International Lifeguard Training Program® certification.
Physical Requirements
1. Swim 200 yards in 5 ft. of water and retrieve a 10 lb brick at bottom of water.
2. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
3. Ability to work in a humid, warm environment and be immersed in water for extended periods of time.
4. Position sometimes requires the ability to lift, push, and pull at least 25 lbs and up to 50 lbs.
5. Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs.
