Animal Control Sergeant – Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC)
Do you have strong leadership skills, sound judgment, and a passion for protecting animals and supporting communities? Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) is seeking an Animal Control Sergeant to lead a dedicated team of Animal Control Officers serving 24 cities and unincorporated King County.
What You’ll Do
As an Animal Control Sergeant, you will:
Lead, coach, and supervise Animal Control Officers in the field
Respond to complex, high-profile, and emergency animal-related incidents
Conduct and oversee investigations, including animal cruelty cases and search warrants
Support officer safety, accountability, and professional development
Resolve citizen concerns and collaborate with law enforcement and partner agencies
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
Leads with integrity, accountability, and emotional intelligence
Builds trust and credibility with staff and partners
Understands public safety, risk management, and officer safety
Can balance compassion with enforcement and sound decision-making
Communicates effectively with staff, volunteers, and the public
Thrives in fast-paced, high-pressure situations
Experience with animals, investigations, supervision, and enforcement is highly valued. Experience using Chameleon is a plus.

Requirements
Must pass a pre-employment physical including the ability to perform moderate to difficult strenuous manual tasks including lifting animals weighing up to sixty (60) pounds on a frequent basis.
Must be able to pass a background check.
Have or be able to obtain a Euthanasia Drug Certification.
Have or are able to obtain a valid Washington State Driver's License at the time of hire.
Must be able to work mandatory overtime, evenings, and holidays including on-call availability.
