Position Summary: The Associate Editor is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of a peer-reviewed academic journal specialized in environmental health sciences, while contributing to long-term initiatives and goals. Assists with the implementation of strategic priorities and projects that advance SETAC and the journal's mission. See the full list of job functions and duties.

- Administer the electronic editorial office submission management system (ScholarOne)
- Provide support to journal stakeholders in all areas (in-house and external editors; authors; reviewers)
- Manage peer-review process; serve as first point of contact for authors, editors, and reviewers
- Provide editorial support on issue compilation, proofs, and SETAC publications
- Collaborate with publications department on collaborative projects
- Ensure editorial excellence

- Mastery of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and style guide (APA)
- Advanced oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal competencies
- Proficiency in computer skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously amid tight deadlines
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; three or more years’ editorial experience
Language Ability:
Excellent written communication skills. Able to organize written ideas clearly; tailor written communications to effectively reach the target audience; provide constructive feedback on grammar, punctuation, syntax, spelling.
Computer Skills:
MS Office. Experience with Electronic Editorial Office websites preferred, such as ScholarOne Manuscripts or Editorial Manager. HTML proofing.
