Job Description:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide classroom instruction in Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Principles of Biology I, General Biology, and other courses in the biological sciences as needed.
- Fulfill contractional obligations for full instructional load during fall and spring semesters.
- Instructional load each fall and spring semester will include teaching classes at the South Walton Center and at an additional location such as the Niceville Campus, and providing lab coordination at the South Walton Center.
- Provide excellence in instruction within the Natural Sciences Department for undergraduate students, including online courses, as needed.
- Assist in the development and evaluation of curriculum as appropriate.
- Utilize approved textbook(s) and/or other instructional materials as approved.
- Collaborate with administration, faculty, and staff to ensure student success.
- Provide student guidance and support.
- Engage in institutional service, professional development, and other duties as assigned by the Department Chair of
- Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the Dean of Arts and Sciences, and/or the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
- As a part of the college's risk management tool, annual mandatory compliance training is required.
- Assignments may be made at any location within the service territory and may require physical presence.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Lab courses planned for the 2026-27 academic year at the South Walton Center include: BSC 1085C Anatomy & Physiology I, BSC 1010C Principles of Biology I, and EVR 1001C Environmental Science. Three (3) credit hours of release time will be provided each fall and spring semester for lab coordination responsibilities at the South Walton Center. Lab coordination responsibilities will include the following:
- Transfer nonhazardous materials and supplies between the Niceville Campus and South Walton Center as needed.
- Set up, clean and coordinate routine maintenance on all instruments and equipment in the South Walton Center science lab.
- Maintain logs of safety equipment maintenance.
- Coordinate disposal of hazardous waste at the South Walton Center.
- Undergo mandatory hazardous waste training annually.
- Manage material inventory.
- Manage ordering of laboratory equipment and supplies as needed.
- Maintain Safety and Data Sheet (SDS) files for all hazardous substances stored in the South Walton Center science lab.
- Maintain biohazard waste records for the State of Florida.
- Carry out periodic professional development to stay current with state regulations.

Requirements
Requirements:
- Master's degree in biological science or closely related field or other master's with 18 graduate hours in biology or a closely related field or doctoral degree in professional programs such as M.D. or D.V.M.
- Proficiency with teaching technologies, including lecture-capture software (e.g., Camtasia or Kaltura).
- Demonstrated evidence of professional development growth through participation in continuing education and other related activities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate in biological science or a closely related field with 18 graduate hours in biology or a closely-related field.
- Post-secondary teaching experience.
- Demonstrated success with online teaching.
All degrees must be from a regionally-accredited postsecondary institution. This full-time 9-month position is eligible for continuing contract status and is contingent upon board approval and funding.
