Position Summary
Reporting to the AUI President, the Director of Advancement, Green Energy Programs will establish and build new a fundraising program for the AUI, focused on greening the supply chain of critical materials, which will support the new Instituto Chileno de Tecnologías Limpias (ICTL). The individual will plan, manage, and execute fundraising activities aimed at corporations, including major gifts, annual giving, advancement communications, and special events (e.g., conferences). Hands-on donor relationship building and stewardship will be required. Successful candidate will have proven experience in developing a comprehensive corporate fundraising program from inception to execution or in bringing a fundraising program to the next level with significant growth in funds raised. The Director will work closely with the AUI President in all fundraising and fundraising-related endeavors.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES |
Key responsibilities and duties will include, but are not limited to: · Identify and evaluate giving potential of prospects; develop cultivation and solicitation strategies. · Implement best-in-class development strategies and operations · Actively solicit, cultivate, qualify a portfolio of giving prospects (with an emphasis on corporate donors) and strategically manage relationships through face-to-face visits, conference attendance, and bring gift solicitations to closure. · Prioritize identification of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) partner(s) and developing and executing a plan to dramatically grow these funding sources. · Work proactively to ensure successful prospect and pipeline management and maintain grantor portfolio. · Responsible for effective prospect tracking, record keeping, reporting and administration aligned with established metrics and periodic and ad hoc reporting requirements. · Schedule and arrange on-site and off-site meetings and cultivation/recognition events such as research presentations, center dedications, cultivation and stewardship visits with organization leaders and the major gift donors and prospects; develop agendas and coordinate the participation of leaders and volunteers. · Prepare and direct preparation of leadership, principal and major gift proposals, solicitation letters, and other cultivation materials and stewardship information for major gift prospects and donors. · Prepare and deliver presentations as they relate to fundraising. · Provide education and training to staff and volunteer about the dynamics of fundraising and foster an understanding of philanthropy within the organization. · Develop, plan, manage, and coordinate all fundraising activities, including but not limited to: major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns, to meet annual goals. · Proactively build relationships with community stakeholders to advance the mission and fundraising goals of the organization. Support board and other key constituents in building donor relationships and networks to meet stewardship goals. · Craft advancement communications plan to highlight the organization’s impact and programs to donors, prospects, and the broader community and maximize public awareness of the organization’s impact. · Identify, recruit, motivate, guide, and support volunteers for participation in major solicitations. · Coordinate the design, printing and distribution of marketing and communication materials for development efforts that is synergistic with other organizational communications (press releases, social media and website). · Actively manage AUI President’s donor interactions and engagements |
Requirements
Minimum Education: · A bachelor's degree is required; master’s degree preferred. Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) highly preferred. Minimum Experience: · Minimum of 10 years of experience in progressively responsible development leadership positions, which includes work in all functional areas (individual giving, institutional giving, annual giving, planned giving, stewardship, Board relations) and leadership in a major capital campaign, preferably within a major cultural institution, nonprofit organization, educational institution, or other environment of similar complexity. Experience with international fundraising preferred. · Strength in developing the case for support and strategic, complex, and innovative fundraising plans, and executing against those plans to achieve goals and objectives. Experience working directly with the most senior levels of an organization and the ability to effectively strategize and engage various groups and constituents. This opportunity requires an entrepreneurial skill set, with an ability come in at start-up and envision the plan to realize a full fundraising program. · Proven and inspirational frontline major gifts fundraiser with a long track record of success in securing six and seven-figure gifts and greater. Demonstrated strength in prospect discovery and in building effective strategies to compel new major donor targets to invest in AUI’s programs and mission. · Demonstrated ability to provide management oversight, leadership, and direction with at least seven years of supervisory experience, including creating and managing a budget. · Excellent interpersonal skills to include working with clients, employees, management, and peer professionals at external agencies a must. Experience identifying, nurturing, and working with Board members and other key constituents, and an appreciation for their role in building an effective fundraising network. · Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, time management and problem-solving skills. The ability to extract and analyze data to make effective, efficient decisions about donor strategy and process required. · Ability and enthusiasm to travel domestically and internationally as necessary. Computer Skills: · High level of competency and demonstrable experience in using donor management software fluently (e.g. Blackbaud’s Altru, Salesforce, etc.). · Strong computer and database application skills and proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel, Power Point, Word) Qualifications:
