The Role:
We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of our compliance systems and processes. This role is critical in ensuring our operations meet regulatory requirements and industry standards, with a key focus on achieving and maintaining ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) certifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and continuously improve compliance and governance systems, frameworks, policies, and procedures
Lead the end-to-end process for achieving and maintaining ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certification
Conduct gap analyses, risk assessments, and internal audits to identify improvement opportunities
Develop and embed compliance management systems across national operations and project sites
Translate legislative and regulatory requirements into practical operational controls
Monitor changes in legislation, standards, and best practices, and update internal processes accordingly
Provide regulatory guidance during incident investigations and operational risk assessments
Ensure contractor and supplier compliance aligns with legislative requirements
Manage external audits and liaise with certification bodies and regulators
Drive a culture of continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance
Your Background:
This role suits someone who is results-driven and has a track record of designing and implementing proven compliance policies and procedures.
You will bring the following:
Proven experience in a compliance, risk, or HSEQ-related role
Hands-on experience implementing and/or maintaining ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems (essential)
Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks related to workplace health & safety and environmental management
Experience leading audits, certifications, and continuous improvement initiatives
Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Ability to work independently and drive initiatives from concept through to execution
Formal qualifications in Work Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Risk, or a related field favourable
Lead Auditor certification (ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001) favourable
Experience in the Australian renewable and energy sector would be a benefit.
