Compensation: $36,000 – 40,000 annually; 10 days vacation; 12 days flex; 13 holidays; full health, dental and life coverage; 401k retirement plan with up to 8% match; reimbursement of travel expenses

Background
Bluegrass Greensource was formed in 2001 to provide environmental education and resources that equip and empower Central Kentuckians to ensure clean, healthy, and enjoyable environments. We currently have a staff of 6 who are dedicated to environmental education and outreach about water quality, waste reduction and energy efficiency. We focus on facilitating preK-12, business and adult education in Central Kentucky.
Overview
Bluegrass Greensource is looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional to join its team as the Communications and Engagement Coordinator . This newly created position will lead Greensource’s efforts to more effectively communicate about our work, diversify revenue and develop new partnerships.
Central to this position is a commitment to Greensource’s vision and long-term goals along with experience and expertise in the development and public relations fields. The successful candidate will lead the creation and management of a marketing plan and a communications strategy.
Location
The BGGS staff operates on a hybrid work schedule currently including two days of in person work per week. One day is based at Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary in Woodford County and the other is based out of Lexington.
Position Description
Develop and Manage Communications Strategy
Facilitate the development of BGGS communications goals, approach and strategy.
Create and implement a marketing plan
Ensure alignment of communications with BGGS’s overall mission, vision, goals and five-year plan.
Coordinate brand development and facilitate brand coherence and flexibility as appropriate across the organization.
Develop and Manage Fundraising and Educational Events
Promote and organize Tacos and Tequila fundraising event
Manage Main Street Clean Sweep
Manage events at Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary
Oversee BGGS’s Direct Communications
Manage website design: development and maintenance and increase web audience.
Oversee expanded social media presence.
Cultivate relationships with media and develop stories to pitch to media outlets.
Develop systems to capture stories of our work in order to document impact and communicate impact to others.
Design and produce organizational materials including electronic newsletter, impact report and collateral materials.
Design and produce collateral material for BGGS events including the Sustainability Summit, Main Street Clean Sweep, etc.
Design and Manage BGGS’s Fundraising Communications
Coordinate fundraising efforts including direct mail, events, major gifts, sponsorships and planned giving
Work with Executive Director to create compelling sponsorship packages for potential donors and sponsors
Maintain donor database
Annually review past donors and donations and develop a plan to increase gifts from sponsors and donors
Provide communications and graphic design support to other Greensource staff
Requirements
Qualifications and Characteristics
Knowledge and experience: Commitment to sustainability; experience working with nonprofits; strong design skills and aesthetic sensibilities; broad knowledge of the communications field and experience in production using a variety of media; understanding of marketing including social marketing; able to work successfully on a team with diverse members.
Personal characteristics: Highly self-motivated; highly creative; commitment to strategic thinking and innovative action; ability to both lead and collaborate effectively; well-organized, attentive to detail, and able to work on multiple projects at once; keen sense of humor!
Technology and software: Strong computer skills and strong knowledge of design, website and website software, specifically Canva, wordpress, squarespace, meta business suite, google analytics, CRMs
Communications: Strong writing skills; strong interpersonal communication skills.
