Great Lakes Agricultural Research Service, Inc. (GLARS) is an agricultural research farm in Walworth County, Wisconsin that conducts field research trials on a large variety of commodities and we are looking for seasonal employees. This employment opportunity can be used to fulfill an internship requirement for graduation. Our seasonal employees assist us in conducting trials concerning new pesticides, biotech crops, and fertilizers on many Wisconsin crops.
Requirements
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in day-to-day field operations related to trials including:
Planting
Plot maintenance (hand weeding, irrigation etc.)
Data collection
Hand pollination of corn
Plant sampling and shipping
Clean research and farm equipment
General Farm Maintenance including:
Haying
Fencing
Painting
Lawn maintenance
Qualifications:
Must be capable of working in varying ergonomic and environmental conditions for extended periods of time, including high pollen and dusty (hay) areas.
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Must be competent with computers and data entry.
Must have an interest in agriculture (or related field).
