Job Description Summary
This role will function as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the plant incoming water, water treatment, and land application systems per Federal, State or Local regulatory requirements. Oversee Water Treatment Operations, either directly or through a third-party service provider. Interface with irrigation partner for the industrial water land application system. Manage and maintain data to ensure proper, effective and efficient system operations and to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements. Manage data management tools, processes, and training to support facility personnel in managing regulatory requirements and Lamb Weston environmental program requirements.
Job Description
Manage and monitor operations of the following systems, either directly or through a third-party service provider:
- Process water treatment system
- Domestic water (sanitary sewer) treatment system
- Potable and Process water System (drinking water and food safety requirements)
- Responsible for understanding all water permit requirements
- Safely work with chemicals in the water treatment system
- Drives safety performance of water treatment operations
- Responsible for identification of potential issues and notification with plant management when issues or deviations from normal operations
- Interface with irrigation partner on the scheduling and distribution of treated industrial water for land application
- Coordination and scheduling of water sample collection and data analysis for internal and/or third-party laboratories
- Analytical data management
- Plan and schedule regular preventative maintenance activities as well as facility outage maintenance activities for the water systems using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Work with maintenance team to develop PMs and spare part documentation
- Manage water treatment chemical and supplies budget
- Work with Environmental Manager to complete periodic compliance reporting
- Utilize EHS information management system (IMS) to track and document compliance task completion
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Water Treatment operations
- Participate in sustainable development (SD) activities to support water efficiency, energy efficiency, and waste reduction efforts
- Support environmental program management
- Assist the plant environmental manager, as necessary
- Participate in capital planning process to ensure water treatment system needs are addressed in a timely manner. Assist or lead VSU activities where needed.
- Implement continuous improvement activities to optimize system performance and reduce overall costs
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree required, preferred in water/wastewater treatment or equivalent; Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, biology, or chemistry is a plus
- 3 years progressive experience in the wastewater field
- Knowledge and experience related to biological treatment systems (anaerobic and aerobic with biological nutrient removal, BNR) as well as primary and secondary treatment processes (preferred)
- Knowledge and experience in water treatment operations including reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration (preferred)
- Knowledge and experience in basic laboratory methods and practices including sample handling and evaluation (preferred)
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, strongly preferred
- Must possess or be able to obtain within 6-12 months of hire, a Class I collection, and Class II Treatment OR Wastewater System Operator certification from Oregon DEQ
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Small Water System Operator certification for from Oregon Health Authority
- Good leadership skills required
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Strong computer (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, SAP, etc.) capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to apply math skills to manage systems
