Responsibilities

Key Performance Areas (Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA's)

The role will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

1. Project Management & Execution:
• Manage assigned workstreams within market exit projects
• Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and risk registers
• Coordinate with internal teams and external advisors on deliverables
• Track project milestones and report progress to GM Commercial & Optimization: Special Projects
• Ensure compliance with project governance and approval processes

2. Commercial Support and Analysis:
• Review and analyze commercial results, including financial metrics, revenue streams, cost management, and market positioning, to identify areas for improvement and risk mitigation.
• Support the JV Board representatives by preparing operating reports, coordinating reviews, and implementing governance systems that monitor compliance and strategic objectives.
• Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for periodic strategy, business plan, and performance review meetings
• Support regulatory compliance efforts by tracking changes, communicating impacts, and coordinating with relevant teams to adhere to evolving requirements.
• Contribute to regular JV reviews, where operational and financial health are assessed and recommendations for improvement are proposed to leadership

3. Intelligence & Scenario Planning:
• Translate external developments into clear, actionable intelligence that support high-stakes investment and governance decisions
• Conduct detailed market analysis and competitive assessments
• Prepare financial models and business case evaluations
• Perform due diligence reviews and risk assessments
• Analyze regulatory and policy developments in assigned markets
• Synthesize complex information into executive-ready insights

Qualifications

Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)

Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Law or related field (mandatory)
• Master's degree in international relations, Political Economy, Finance, or Business Administration (preferred)

Experience:
• A minimum of 7-12 years in strategy, commercial & operations / risk management, geopolitical intelligence, or regulatory affairs, with proven impact in complex environments
• Direct exposure to telecoms, infrastructure, fintech, or adjacent sectors, bringing industry-relevant context to risk analysis
• Proven ability to interpret and assess complex geopolitical and regulatory shifts in emerging markets and translate them into business implications
• Extensive experience preparing concise, high-impact intelligence briefs, dashboards, and reports for ExCo and Board-level audiences
• Familiarity with structuring and monitoring minority investments, JVs, or partnerships in politically and legally sensitive markets
• Strong background collaborating with legal, regulatory, and finance teams to address risk-heavy cases and compliance challenges
• Demonstrated success in supporting negotiations or dispute resolutions with structured, data-driven insights and recommendations
• Exposure to cross-border markets, ideally within Africa and internationally, with an ability to navigate diverse political and regulatory contexts
• Hands-on experience in scenario modelling, horizon scanning, or foresight tools to anticipate potential disruptions
• Deep experience of building or contributing to intelligence functions, frameworks, or playbooks that institutionalise best practices
• A strong exposure to African or emerging markets, with an understanding of consumer behaviour, market challenges, and localization needs
• Experience working in cross-functional, matrixed environments, influencing senior stakeholders, and mobilizing execution across diverse teams
