Position Summary
The Production Supervisor oversees and coordinates the daily activities of employees engaged in the fabrication and assembly of products. This role ensures safety, quality, productivity, and operational excellence while leading a high performance team in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lean Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work area.
- Drive Lean manufacturing initiatives including 5S, Standardized Work, TPM, and Kaizen events.
- Serve as a Lean champion—leading problem solving, updating work standards, and improving process efficiency.
- Review work orders and plan department operations, establishing priorities and production sequences.
- Coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure high-quality output and adherence to schedules.
- Inspect equipment and work in progress; identify malfunctions and report repair needs.
- Monitor production metrics and ensure KPI targets are met, including quality, output, and efficiency.
- Recommend improvements to methods, workflow, equipment performance, and working conditions.
- Provide strong, hands-on leadership to production employees.
- Interpret company policies and enforce safety, quality, and conduct standards.
- Maintain regular communication with employees; conduct coaching and performance evaluations.
- Ensure appropriate onboarding, ongoing training, and skill development for all team members.
- Administrative & Cross-Functional Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate time, production, and training records.
- Collaborate with other supervisors and departments to coordinate production flow.
- Support compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and HR policies—including EEO and harassment-free workplace standards.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or other related field.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory or team leadership experience in manufacturing, preferably in automotive or commercial trucking/trailer manufacturing.
- Experience leading welding, machining and/or assembly operations preferred.
- Lean Black Belt or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt preferred.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Solid problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing / TPS.
