- Lecturer of Chemistry and Chemical Hygiene Officer
Description
Teaching responsibilities (60% of position) will include courses in Introductory and General Chemistry, and may include lectures and laboratories. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated excellence as innovative teachers, and who understand liberal arts education that includes a student-centered undergraduate experience. Experience teaching high school or first-year college students is beneficial.
Chemical Hygiene Officer responsibilities (40% of position) will include reviewing and revising the Chemical Hygiene Plan annually as necessary in order to maintain compliance with current legal requirements, training faculty/staff on safe practices for chemical storage and disposal and enforcing proper procedures through annual inspections, coordinating pick-up of hazardous waste, and serving as the EPA and TDEC (Tennessee Department of Environmental Conservation) compliance officer. Requirements
Education required
M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field
License, Certification, or Registration Necessary:
Chemical Hygiene or Environmental Safety certification (or ability to obtain within six months)
OSHA-10 certification (or ability to obtain within six months)
