Posting Details (Default Section) Posting Number:20260002TPosition Title:Lab TechnicianPosition Type:Temp/InternLocation:Villanova, PAWork Schedule:temporaryApproximate Number of Hours per Week15 to 25 hours per weekDepartment:204-Electrical and Computer EngineeringPosition Summary:The Electrical and Computer Engineering Lab Technician provides technical support and assistance with integrated circuit design tools, infrastructure maintenance, simulation, test, and verification. The Lab Technician will directly support The Burnett Lab. This support includes assisting students and faculty with academic and research projects, maintaining computer systems, ordering supplies, training researchers on tool use, and providing additional assistance as needed. This is a temporary, part-time position for 15 25 hours per week.Villanova is a Catholic university sponsored by the Augustinian order. - Support student and faculty projects with simulation, schematic capture, layout, and other computer automated design (CAD) tool use.
- Build test suites and execute tests of electronics assemblies using laboratory equipment.
- Order electronics assembly manufacturing from selected vendors.
- Maintain electronic design automation (EDA) tools and other computational infrastructure.
- Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
Work Experience
- Experience using integrated circuit design tools for 2+ years
- Completed at least one tape-out in CMOS (65 nm or smaller), FinFET, or nanosheet process
Work Skills (e.g., written and verbal communication skills)
- Must have strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
- The individual must be able to work independently as well as with others, including students, in a productive manner
- Experience with circuit design tools from Cadence, Synopsys, and/or Siemens (Mentor Graphics)
Equipment Knowledge
- Oscilloscope, power supply, function generator
- Master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
Work Experience
- Completed at least two tape-outs in deep submicron, FinFET, or nanosheet process
Work Skills (e.g., written and verbal communication skills)Equipment Knowledge
- RF probe station, spectrum analyzer, vector network analyzer
- Computers, benchtop electronics test equipment, antistatic mats, probe stations
Environmental conditions: (any unusual/adverse conditions such as exposure to chemicals, noise, illumination, air quality, weather exposure etc.).
- Typical electrical laboratory environment
Physical requirements: (items such as lifting, pushing, pulling, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, manual dexterity, walking etc.)
