Description
OverviewThe Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall management, conditioning, and presentation of the golf course and surrounding grounds. This role ensures the course is maintained at a high standard consistent with the club's expectations, strategic goals, and financial plan. The Superintendent leads all agronomic programs, staffing, and resource allocation while working collaboratively with the General Manager, Golf Professional, and committees to deliver an exceptional playing experience. Emphasis is placed on proactive planning, efficient operations, environmental stewardship, and clear communication with members and leadership.

- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or assistant superintendent role
- Proven track record managing daily course conditions at a private club or high-quality public facility
- Hands-on experience with irrigation systems, drainage, and water management
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing maintenance staff, including scheduling and performance management
- Experience planning and executing key agronomic programs such as aerification, topdressing, and seasonal course preparation
- Background in budget management, including labor and expense control
- Familiarity with modern turf equipment operations and maintenance practices
- Degree or certificate in turfgrass management, agronomy, or related field preferred
- Valid pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe) required

- Oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance including turf management, irrigation, drainage, bunker conditioning, and landscaping
- Develop and execute agronomic plans including fertilization, aerification, topdressing, pest control, and seasonal conditioning strategies
- Manage and train maintenance staff; establish schedules, standards, and accountability systems
- Prepare and manage annual operating and capital budgets; monitor expenses and identify cost efficiencies
- Lead course improvement projects such as drainage enhancements, tee expansions, bunker renovations, and tree management
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of irrigation systems, equipment fleet, and maintenance facilities
- Coordinate with the Golf Professional to align course setup and playability with member expectations and events
- Communicate regularly with the General Manager, committees, and membership regarding course conditions, projects, and timelines
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to chemical use, water management, and workplace safety
