Job Summary:
The Environmental Intern will support a variety of environmental and sustainability-related activities across compliance audits, system updates, and continuous improvement efforts. This role provides hands-on experience in environmental assessments, process improvements, corrective actions, and supporting documentation updates.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with environmental inspections, audits, and compliance assessments.
- Collect, analyze, and maintain environmental data and reports.
- Support rebranding and organization of controlled environmental documents.
- Conduct hazardous chemical inventory analysis for regulatory reporting (e.g., SARA Title III Tier II).
- Aid in updates to Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plans, and environmental compliance procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No supervisory responsibility
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail, especially in document management, environmental audits, and system updates.
- Knowledge of environmental management systems (ISO 14001) and environmental compliance regulations (e.g., SARA Title III, SPCC).
- Analytical skills for identifying process gaps, tracking waste, and supporting corrective actions.
- Strong communication and organizational skills to collaborate across teams and support improvement initiatives.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new regulatory compliance standards, customer requirements, and environmental documentation practices.
Education & Experience
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High School Diploma or GED
Background Prerequisites:
Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, physical, and controlled substance testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience with researching topics
- Previous employment with a focus on team-work
