Description
Job Summary
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Consultant/Instructor plays a key role in delivering high-quality safety training, regulatory guidance, and technical consulting services to clients across various industries. This position combines subject-matter expertise with strong communication skills to help organizations maintain compliance, reduce risk, and build effective safety cultures. The ideal candidate is a confident presenter, a knowledgeable EHS practitioner, and a trusted advisor to clients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging, compliant EHS training programs, including but not limited to a) Hazard Communication, b) OSHA 10/30 Hour, c) Respiratory Protection, d) Confined Space Entry, e) Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), f) Silica Prevention, g) Emergency Response, h) Construction and General Industry safety topics.
- Conduct site assessments, safety audits, and compliance evaluations.
- Develop and revise written EHS programs, policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Assist clients with Cal/OSHA, EPA, and state regulatory compliance.
- Performs Industrial Hygiene Monitoring, Environmental Permitting, and Building Science Surveys.
- Assist with business development initiatives—including marketing collateral creation, email campaigns, and commercial strategies.
- Oversee end-to-end project management to ensure seamless execution, including the generation of high-quality proposals, timely delivery of services, interpretation of laboratory data, and preparation of comprehensive final reports with clearly defined corrective actions.
- This role does not have a set, static schedule; hours and locations shift weekly based on client demands and appointments.
- Operate primarily on-site with clients rather than out of a central, fixed office location. Can work from home when not otherwise scheduled at a client site.
Requirements
Required Skills
- Knowledge of general building mechanical systems and building construction.
- Exhibit clear, concise verbal and written communication skills.
- General computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Independent thinking and self-motivation are essential.
- Excellent public speaking capabilities and delivery of technical content to a ground-level audience.
- Efficient time management skills and the ability to multitask.
- Willingness to travel across the Greater Bay Area, with occasional regional travel to Northern and Southern California.
SHE Requirements
- Intervene and take appropriate actions on any non-conformance, non-conformance, or concerns affecting:
- Compliance with any known legal, regulatory, or company requirements,
- EHS policies, procedures, or other management system requirements, and
- Expectations or needs of other interested parties and communicate it using the appropriate company process.
- When requested, participate in the development, communication, and implementation of EHS programs.
- Communicate and follow up as required on any EHS concerns, incidents, near misses, or opportunities for improvement using the appropriate company process.
- Must follow all SOPs and Company Safety Rules. Utilize all required environmental controls during standard operations and non-standard/emergency conditions.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. PPE required includes chemical-resistant gloves and protective clothing; full- and/or half-face air-purifying respirators (including dust masks); and ear, head, foot, and eye protection.
