Overview:
In your role as Corporate Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Director for a Baton Rouge-based manufacturer, you will lead the company’s safety, health, and environmental programs across all operations. As the Director, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and initiatives to ensure compliance with safety regulations, promote a culture of health and well-being, and minimize environmental impact.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive SHE strategy aligned with the company’s objectives and industry best practices.
Identify potential risks, hazards, and areas for improvement, and implement proactive measures to mitigate these concerns.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate SHE initiatives into business operations.
Policy Implementation and Compliance:
Establish, update, and enforce safety, health, and environmental policies in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with established standards.
Provide guidance and support to ensure that all employees are adequately trained in safety protocols and procedures.
Develop and implement programs to minimize the company’s environmental footprint, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and sustainable practices.
Stay abreast of environmental regulations and industry trends to recommend and implement improvements in environmental practices.
Incident Management and Investigation:
Oversee the investigation of accidents, incidents, or near misses, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Maintain thorough records of incidents, analyze trends, and continually develop strategies to improve safety performance.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
Collaborate with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and community groups to maintain positive relationships and ensure alignment with external standards.
Communicate SHE goals, achievements, and initiatives effectively across the organization through reports, presentations, and training sessions.
Leadership and Team Management:
Foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization, encouraging active participation and engagement from all employees.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety.
Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
Bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred).
Extensive experience (8+ years) in SHE leadership roles within a corporate setting.
In-depth knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proven track record of successfully implementing and managing SHE programs.
Minimum 8 years of experience in leadership roles.
