We are proud of our world-class faculty, groundbreaking research and international reputation for excellence in sustainability, community engagement and innovation.Position SummaryConfidential Advocacy is part of the Administrative Services department within the Center for Student for Student Health and Counseling (SHAC). This program addresses sexual and gender based violence at PSU by providing trauma informed support for students. Students are supported with connections, resources, information, and campus-coordinated response efforts at all institutional levels.
This confidential advocate position provides confidential and legally privileged advocacy services (including safety planning, academic and housing accommodations, financial aid, accompaniment throughout reporting processes, emotional support, and other referral/resource) directly to students in the University community who have experienced gender-based violence: relationship violence, sexual assault, sexual harassment, or stalking. The Advocate collaborates with campus and community partners to formulate strategies that best serve the survivor and the community. The Advocate will work closely with the Confidential Advocacy Coordinator in supporting campus change by providing direct advocacy services & training for PSU students, faculty, and staff. This position will also educate the campus community about the integral role that each of us have in ending interpersonal violence and providing survivor centered responses to disclosures of violence. This in-person position with no option for remote work.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 2 years' experience at full time equivalency, working directly with survivors of interpersonal/gender-based violence, providing trauma informed care & working with underserved & marginalized communities or in a counseling related field
- Possess, or be willing to obtain within the first three months of being hired, the required state-level certifications for campus advocacy.
- Demonstrated understanding of current best practices in responding to interpersonal trauma
- Must successfully pass a background check
- Create an environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates differences.
- Function and communicate effectively and respectfully within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds.
- Seek opportunities to gain experience working and collaborating in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings with a willingness to change for continual improvement.
- Adhere to all of PSU's policies including the policies on Prohibited Discrimination & Harassment and the Professional Standards of Conduct.
Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.
The starting annual salary for this position will be $xxxxx but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
