Operations and Site Manager Position
1. Operations and Site Work
- Perform all aspects of thermophilic composting at the Restoration Soils facility.
- Track composting process and follow protocols for moisture monitoring, temperature, turning, mixing and screening.
- Operate loader (John Deere 624), small tractor, and deck screens. Perform basic maintenance on machines.
- Load residential and commercial customers.
- Manage incoming organic waste streams from residential and commercial customers.
2. Outreach and Engagement
- Commitment to organics recycling, soil regeneration and building a more circular waste stream.
- Primary Community face of Restoration Soils for customers, organizations and businesses.
- Staff Community events such as facility open houses, Community Farmers
Market, zero waste events, Master Gardener events, Festival of Science, etc..
Primary point of contact for the business including website, phone, email and social media.
1. Develop and Expand Business
- Work with Partners to implement the strategic plan for growing the business with defined goals, strategies and objectives.
- Develop regional relationships which work to build sales with commercial landscapers, agricultural users and retailers.
- Assist Partners with financials, billing and financial accounting.
- Explore grants and partnerships which further the strategic plan of the business.
Commitment and Expectations
Expectations for the position include demonstrating a commitment to organics recycling, regenerative soil building, customer service and expanding our business model. Applicants must demonstrate a strong work ethic, understand that compost operations involve hard and at times dirty work and have a commitment to building strong healthy relationships with owners, customers, suppliers and the Community.
Partners are open to mutually beneficial opportunities (e.g.revenue sharing or other) which reward a long term commitment to building the business with compensation. Such opportunities can be considered after a period of working together.
The Operations Manager must be on site 3-4 days per week on a defined schedule which includes Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning. Non site specific tasks will be done from home or off site.
Compensation
Position: Full time with minimum of 25 hours per week on site. Compensation: $24-30 per hour depending on experience.
Vacation and Time Off Requests
Two weeks vacation (1 week paid and 1 week unpaid) for the first year. Two weeks paid vacation in the second year of employment.
Flexibility with schedule during off season.
