- Coalition Lead (Left)
Description
If interested, please apply via the "company website" option (link here).
We are launching a new highly ambitious bipartisan social movement called "Humans First" (which will be a 501c3 and affiliated 501c4) in order to ensure the AI serves ordinary people, not a small AI elite. We are currently hiring for a number of senior roles, and are looking for experienced, ambitious people to fill them. We already have advisers and interested partners from across the political spectrum, and are looking to build up genuine power to confront the AI elites and ensure the security, liberty and flourishing of all Americans.
The Coalition Lead (Left) will be responsible for building and mobilizing a coalition across left communities to advance the goals of the Humans First movement. This includes engaging organizations and leaders from the Progressive and Environmental movements, labor unions, economic populist groups, and key Democratic constituencies. The role centers on public education, partnership development, issue advocacy, and (in time) grassroots mobilization. Working closely with senior team members, this Coalition Lead will engage progressive thought leaders, activists, unions, and advocacy organizations, ensuring that Humans First's strategy and messaging are responsive to the priorities and concerns of these constituencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Relationship Building: Establish and maintain relationships with key influencers, politicians, activists, and thought leaders on the Left. Represent Humans First’s agenda and work to bring individuals or institutions on board with elements of the agenda where appropriate.
- Endorsement Strategy: Lead efforts to secure endorsements and public support from high-profile liberal and progressive figures and organizations. This includes both formal endorsements and encouraging public alignment with specific parts of the Humans First agenda.
- Institutional Engagement: Engage with progressive non-profits, think tanks, unions, and advocacy groups to build partnerships and mobilize their members. The purpose of this will also be to find allies, and to otherwise convince those groups on our side to be more vocal about pushing for this agenda.
- Movement Alignment: Contribute progressive perspectives into internal discussions on strategy and belief asks to ensure they adequately reflect the values and viewpoints of progressive communities. Provide input to senior leadership based on on-the-ground insights.
- Narrative Alignment: Translate the Humans First message into frameworks and language that resonate with progressive values and priorities.
- Constituency Management: Oversee and support the Constituency Leads (e.g., Union Outreach) focused on key segments of the Left, ensuring coordination, strong execution, and alignment with broader coalition-building goals.
Benefits:
- Health insurance for you and your dependents
- 401K plan + 4% matching
- Unlimited PTO
- Lunch and Dinner at the office
- Annual Professional Development Stipend
- Access to some of the top talent working on technical and conceptual research in AI safety
