We are currently looking for a Charge Crane Operator to join our team in Decatur, Illinois.  

PURPOSE OF POSITION     

Reporting to the Department Supervisor, the Charge Crane Operator is responsible controlling the operation of the overhead magnet crane. 

Task and Responsibilities: 

• Capable of operating an overhead crane from a remote control in a safe and efficient manner.
• Regulates the addition of charges of revert material, scrap steel and ingot in the correct proportions to charge system.
• Adds the necessary materials to furnace per melt Deck Operators instructions.
• Capable of safely unloading raw material deliveries to charge storage area.
• Prepares charge materials for addition to melt furnaces.
• Keeps aisle ways clear and unobstructed in charge makeup area.
• Keeps charge area clean and organized. 
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Adhere to Nortrak's Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies.

Job Requirements (e.g. education, experience, skills and desired competencies)

• High School graduate or GED preferred.

• Forklift and Crane certification preferred.

• Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals.

• Proficient in using measuring tools such as rulers and tape measures.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Blueprints preferred. 

Physical Demands:

• Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and pushing, pulling, or lifting objects for the duration of your required schedule shift.
• Use hands and arms to operate tools, handle materials, and reach for the duration of your required scheduled shift.
• Regularly lift and carry 3035 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• Hearing abilities necessary to perform job tasks safely and effectively. 

Working Location:

• Decatur, Illinois

Salary:

• $22.50/hr - $24.70/hr
